As we reflect on our recent open house, a celebration and showcase for the 32 entrepreneurs that participated in our cohort, we at Latino Founders want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this event possible.
From our partners to our dedicated entrepreneurs, your presence and support were instrumental in bringing this vision to life.
On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, we celebrated the launch of this remarkable 17,000-square-foot hub in Southeast Portland, now home to our nonprofit, Latino Founders, along with Continuous Solutions, and announced the new Power and Energy Center of the Pacific Northwest with Continuous Solutions and Skip Technologies, two companies working to solve big problems in the power grid.
This collaboration is not just about sharing space; it’s about creating a thriving ecosystem that empowers the next generation of Latino entrepreneurs: Celebrating Community and Innovation: Celebrating Our Journey: A Successful Open House for Latino Founders.
Creating a Path for Future Innovators
Nyah Zarate, founder of Continuous Solutions, shared her inspiring journey and the importance of community support in her entrepreneurial path.
Her commitment to paying it forward by leasing part of her facility to us reflects a profound dedication to nurturing future innovators.
The space we now occupy includes eight desks, a sitting room, a conference room, and even a soundproof room for recording podcasts like The Shades of Entrepreneurship™ hosted by our Board President, Gabriel Flores—everything our participants need to accelerate their growth.
Edgar Navas, a founding member of Latino Founders, aptly described our mission:
“What we’re trying to build is an ecosystem.”
With access to state-of-the-art equipment for testing and fabrication, our accelerator participants are well-equipped to tackle significant challenges in the power sector.
A Hub for Change and Innovation
The Power and Energy Center is more than just a physical space; it’s a beacon for green technology and climate solutions.
As we work alongside Continuous Solutions and Skip Technology, we aim to make a significant impact on the reliability of our power grid.
Our collaborative efforts not only align with Oregon’s vision for innovation but also position Latino entrepreneurs at the forefront of this critical industry.
Executive Director Juan Barraza emphasized the goal of helping 100 Latino businesses reach $1 million in annual revenue within five years. To achieve this, we recognize the importance of continuous mentoring and access to resources.
We believe that by supporting each other and fostering collaboration, we can shift perceptions of Latino businesses and open doors to vital financing opportunities.
A Celebration of Community
Our open house was not just a launch event; it was a celebration of community and collaboration. We were honored to have Oregon Senator Ron Wyden join us and highlight the importance of supporting Latino entrepreneurs in our state.
The energy in the room was palpable as our cohort members showcased their businesses and shared their stories.
As we look forward to our inaugural annual gathering and the upcoming Pitch Latino competition, we remain committed to fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit.
These events not only provide invaluable networking opportunities but also showcase the incredible talent and innovation within our community.
Thank You for Joining Us
To everyone who attended the open house, participated in our events, and contributed to our mission: Thank You!
Your support is what drives us forward, and together, we will create a lasting impact for Latino entrepreneurs in Oregon and beyond. Let’s continue to work hand-in-hand to build a future where innovation knows no bounds, and every dreamer has the opportunity to thrive.
We can't wait to see you at our next event!
